SYNOPSIS
An imperfect man fights for survival during an uncertain time in America. In 1985, a son of Texas, Ron Woodroof is an electrician and rodeo cowboy who is suddenly blindsided by being diagnosed as H.I.V.-positive. So, after his search for alternative treatments in Mexico, he starts a battle with the medical establishment and pharmaceutical companies by establishing a "buyers club," where H.I.V.-positive people have access to the newly acquired supplies.
Jean-Marc Vallée
Montréal-born filmmaker who has received numerous awards and nominations for his movies, like the Vancouver Film Critics Circle Award, the Jutra Award, the Genie Award – Canada's Oscars equivalent –, BAFTA Costume Designers Guild, and Critics' Choice Movie Awards, among other honors. He made his feature directorial debut with 1995's Liste Noire (Black List), and also edited the movie. The stylish erotic thriller was the first of its genre for Québec cinema.Mr. Vallée has directed, written and produced around a dozen of films and shorts.
