ANA DE LA REGUERA

ACTRIZ | ACTRESS (MÉXICO)

Her professional career actually began in soap operas, genre in which she has acted profusely. Her first feature film was Por la libre (2000), followed by Ladies Night which earned her a Diosa de Plata Award. Her act­ ing in the movie Así del precipicio made her earn her second Diosa de Plata for Best Actress. In 2009, Ana de la Reguera was part of the feature films Di Di Ho­ llywood, by Bigas Luna, and Carlos Carrera’s Backyard, winning the Imagen & Canacine Award for Best Actress and the Silver Plaque at the Chicago Film Festival. Her immersion in Hollywood cinema happened through the film Cop Out, directed by Kevin Smith and co­starring Bruce Willis.

PETER SCARLET

PROGRAMADOR | PROGRAMMER (EUA | USA)

One of the most respected festival organizers and pro­ grammers on the international film festival scene, he was at the helm of the San Francisco International Film Festival, the oldest in the US, from 1983 to 2001.
Invited to become Director General of the Cinéma­ thèque Française in Paris, he left San Francisco in 2001.
In 2003 he returned to the US to serve as Artistic Di­ rector of NYC’s Tribeca Film Festival.
After six years, he moved to the U.A.E. having been invited by the government to take over the Abu Dhabi Film Festival.
In 2013, he launched i­Cut, to provide consulting ser­ vices to film festivals worldwide.

PHILIPPE FALARDEAU

DIRECTOR | FILMMAKER (CANADÁ)

Philippe Falardeau studied Political Sciences and Interna­ tional Relations. He directed La Moitié gauche du frigo (The Left Side of the Fridge) which won several awards, including Best Canadian First Feature at the Toronto International Film Festival (tiff) in 2000. His second feature Congorama (2006) was presented at the closing ceremonies of the Di­ rector’s Fortnight in Cannes. In 2008, his third feature C’est pas moi, je le jure (It’s Not Me, I Swear) premiered at tiff. It went on to win the Crystal Bear Award and the International Jury Award in the Generation KPlus section at the 2009 Berlinale. His last feature Monsieur Lazhar (2011) was nomi­ nated for an Oscar in 2012 in the Best Foreign Language category and was distributed in over 50 territories.

DANIEL GIMÉNEZ-CACHO

ACTOR (MÉXICO)

He is one of the key actors in the Mexican industry, with a trajectory and talent which have gone beyond borders. Since his film debut in 1988, he starred over 40 features and won 5 Ariel Awards. Giménez Cacho has worked with such renowned filmmakers as Alfonso Cuarón, Guillermo del Toro, Pedro Almodóvar and Jorge Fons, among others.
In his prolific career he has participated in over 35 stage plays under the direction of Juan José Gurrola, Ludwik Margules, John Malkovich, among many others.
In 2013, he debuted as a director with the TV series Crónica de castas (not aired yet), produced by Andrés Solano for Canal 11.

LUIS PUENZO

Luis Puenzo is a screenwriter, producer, and director. In 1984, he founded Historias Cinematográficas to produce The Official History, winner of the Oscar to Best Foreign Language Film. He also wrote and directed Gringo viejo, starring Jane Fonda and Gregory Peck; La peste, an adap­ tation of Camus’ novel, with William Hurt, Robert Duvall, and Raul Julia; the documentary feature Broken Silence, produced by Steven Spielberg for the Shoah Foundation; and La puta y la ballena, starred by Aitana Sánchez Gijón.
Historias Cinematográficas also produced xxy, El niño pez and Wakolda by Lucía Puenzo; El fin del Potemkin by Misael Bustos; Infancia clandestina by Benjamín Ávila, Bomba by Sergio Bizzio and Planta madre by Gianfranco Quattrini.

RÉMI BONHOMME

PROGRAMADOR | PROGRAMMER SEMAINE DE LA CRITIQUE CANNES (FRANCIA | FRANCE)

Rémi Bonhomme graduated in political science and cul­ tural management in France and Germany. He has col­ laborated with La Semaine de la Critique since 2003 and was appointed Program Manager in 2008.
Based between Paris and Beirut, Rémi is also a pro­ grammer at the Metropolis Art Cinema and co­founder of the company MC Distribution (Lebanon). He was associate producer on the Lebanese feature film Every Day Is a Holiday, by Dima El­Horr, which premiered at Toronto Festival in 2009. Remi also collaborated as con­ sultant for festivals such as Doha, Tribeca and Bird’s Eye View (London) and served as Jury in Busan, Morelia, Thessaloniki, and Buenos Aires.

GENNA TERRANOVA

TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL (EUA | USA)

Genna Terranova serves as the vp of Pro- gramming for Tribeca Enterprises and Director of Programming at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City co-chaired by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff. Her strategic direction and vision for the festival since 2008 has been integral in shaping the Tribeca Film Festi- val. In doing so, she fosters new voices and platforms in storytelling and media, and continues to develop relationships with studios, filmmakers, distributors, agents and other film festivals around the world.

MAURICIO DURÁN

UNIVERSAL PICTURES INTERNATIONAL (MÉXICO)

Mauricio Durán is an influential represen- tative of the film industry in Latin Ame- rica. With 27 years of experience in the film industry, he has released theatrically over 1,300 films including more than 100 blockbusters, and is behind the release of more than 30 Mexican films.

In 2007 he was responsible for creating the first Universal Pictures office in Latin America, located in Mexico City. After only one year of operations, he managed to increase in 80% the box office for the studio. Today, Universal Pictures Interna- tional Mexico is the highest-grossing film distribution company in Latin America.

Nadia Dresti became in 1999 a member of the Locarno Festival Selection Committee and was appointed Head of the Locarno In- dustry Office. Since then she has played an important role in the growth of this depart- ment. In 2003 she took part in the launching of Open Doors, the new Locarno co-pro- duction workshop, in association with ace (Ateliers du Cinéma Européen) and eave (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs).
In 2006, Dresti was appointed Dele- gate of the Artistic Direction of the Locar- no Film Festival, where she is still in charge of the Industry Office and of the Industry Branch of Open Doors.

Richard Ray Pérez is the producer of Creative Partnerships in Sundance Insti- tute’s Documentary Film Program (dfp). In this role, Pérez participates in all dfp programmatic activity and oversees a portfolio of dfp partnerships and colla- borations includingThe Sundance Insti- tute TED Prize Filmmaker Award and The Sundance Institute Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Short Film Project, a slate of 5 films about creative people in the Global South overcoming hunger and poverty in personal, innovative and replicable ways.

In 2005 she joined the team of Mantarraya Producciones working as production coor- dinator in Stellet Licht, by Carlos Reyga- das; Los bastardos by Amat Escalante; as associate producer in Post Tenebras Lux by Reygadas; as production director in Es- calante’s Heli, among other films.
In 2007, together with Mantarraya (Jai- me Romandía) and film director Carlos Reygadas they created ND Mantarraya. The company has distributed more than 30 films and has become one of the most important art-house distributors in Mexico.

He is the Executive Director of Hot Docs, a Toronto-based organization commit- ted to showcasing and celebrating exce- llence in documentaries, and to creating business opportunities for Canadian and international documentary filmmakers, producers, broadcasters and distributors.
Brett holds a Bachelor of Arts in Cine- ma Studies from the University of Toron- to, has previously worked for the Toronto International Film Festival and major Ca- nadian banks and brokerages.

CARLOS GUTIÉRREZ

CINEMA TROPICAL (MÉXICO)

Carlos A. Gutiérrez is co-founder and executive director of Cinema Tropical, the leading presenter of Latin-American cinema in the US, founded in 2001. As a guest curator, Carlos has presented sev- eral film series at different cultural institu- tions, including The Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum and the Film Society of Lincoln Center. He has also served as both expert nominator and panelist for the Rockefeller Media Arts Program, the Sundance Documen- tary Fund, the Tribeca Film Institute Latin America Media Arts Fund, as well as a screening panelist for the Oscars’ Acade- my Awards for film students.

Carlos Morales is a Mexican producer and post-producer who has collaborated in over 30 films and TV series in the last 15 years. He has worked as a film and music jour- nalist for radio and newspapers since the 70s. In 1980 he joined the organizing team of the San Sebastian Film Festival and worked there as part of the Direction Committee until 2006.
During the 90s he worked as a pro- grammer for the International Critics Week of the Cannes Festival —devoted to the search of new talents— which he directed as General Representative of the section in 2000 and 2001. He is cur- rently part of the programming team of the Director’s Fortnight.
